Western Paper Helps Feed the Hungry in Colorado With $10,000 Donation
The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a significant toll on the ability for many Coloradoans to put food on the table. A survey commissioned by advocacy group Hunger Free Colorado released in lat July found that 1 in 3 Coloradoans are struggling to afford food, with 40% of households seeing a drop in income.
Western Paper is committed to supporting the local community, and our CEO, Nick Morris, has been serving on the board of Foodbank of the Rockies for a number of years now, and he was pleased to present a $10,000 donation on behalf of Western Paper to help support the massive increase in need for food assistance in the local area!
Foodbank of the Rockies has been working at a frantic pace, doubling the number of meals they previously provided. The organization has increased distribution to nearly 300,000 meals a day and the nonprofit had to hire additional staff as well as purchase more food storage space. Its budget is $1 million more a month than it was pre-COVID-19 — a level agency officials don’t think they can sustain for a whole year. We are proud to support Foodbank of the Rockies, and hope you will consider doing the same!
